  2. I don't want theories. I want evidence of it being done before, and comprehensible, easy-to-follow steps in English. So anyone could be able to do it and try out the operating system themselves before committing to installing it on a capable machine.

Feb 12, 2024However, since ChromeOS is based on an open-source project (Linux), Neverware CloudReady has created an Open Virtual Appliance (OVA) file for ChromeOS which you can use to deploy a ChromeOS VM. Before you invest in purchasing a Chromebook, you can create a Virtual Machine (VM) on your existing computer and try out the ChromeOS. The methods to install ChromeOS on a VM have been discussed below.
  4. 3 days agoCan ChromeOS be installed on VMWare Workstation? Yes, you can use the modified ChromeOS OVA file in Neverware CloudReady to create a ChromeOS virtual machine. Can you install ChromeOS on Hyper-V? Logically, a VMDK file can be extracted from a ChromeOS OVA file and converted to a VHD/VHDX file to create a Hyper-V ChromeOS VM.

Chrome OS Flex doesn't support Hyper-V because it wants an IDE or SATA drive (these require a Hyper-V Generation 1 VM) and UEFI boot (this requires Hyper-V Generation 2 VMs). The Generation 2 VMs only support SCSI drives. Could you please, pretty please, add a SCSI driver into Chrome OS Flex so I can run it in a VM?
